As a young girl I enjoyed reading comic books, especially Superman. I saw myself in them, amid the action and adventure. I think I always saw myself as the hero rather than the one being saved. This poem ponders what happened to those heroes, digs into their emotions and what their lives would be like as they lived into retirement age and realized that superpowers didn’t save you from loss or the drudgery of aging.
