"Meryl" and "Grace" are the speakers throughout my manuscript Autobiography of My Grandmothers. The collection records my grandmothers' experiences in the first person, solidifying the concept that we are extensions of one another--that their experiences as women in Diamondville, a coal mining town no longer on the map, and in rural Ohio in a traditional Sicilian community are still carried in their granddaughter's love for them and her inheritance of religious trauma and schizoaffective thinking.
Lake Angela creates at the confluence of verbal language and movement and holds a PhD in the intersemiotic translation of Austrian poetry into dance. Her books include Old Magic (2010), Organblooms (2020), and Words for the Dead (2021). As director of Companyia Lake Angela, she presents the value of schizophrenia spectrum creativity.
