My writing is often preoccupied with childhood memory; namely, the familial and spiritual relationships I formed, cultivated, and questioned at that time. This poem is no exception as it explores the strangeness of the celebratory and the elegiac, the seedy and the sacred, the living and the dead. “Turn” attempts to reconcile my place in the world among many familiar and unfamiliar faces, as well as after my brother’s death.
