My goal is to apprehend feelings about a loss I experienced. Distance gives perspective on memory and pain, particularly that which echoes under the skin, unresolved or misunderstood. For me, poetry is a way into those spaces, for reconciliation or transcendence. The verse gives me the chance of catharsis, not as actor or observer, but as author. The poem became the path to uncover any lost or buried truths about my sorrow.
