Hayden Saunier is the author of four poetry collections, most recently, How to Wear This Body. Her work has been widely published and awarded the Pablo Neruda Prize, Gell Poetry Award and the Rattle Poetry Prize. She is an actor and the founder of the poetry + improvisation group, No River Twice. This poem did indeed have its genesis in the bathtub, where she likes to read.
