Valerie studied creative writing at Penn State University. She wrote this poem during time spent at New York's Cathedral of St. John the Divine in February 2019.
The space led her to reflect on how spirituality and music can be bittersweet mediums through which we can deal with losses of people both living and dead. Professionally, she is a violist and orchestra librarian with the Minnesota Orchestra.
