Caroline Goodwin moved to the Bay Area from Sitka, Alaska in 1999 to attend Stanford as a Wallace Stegner Fellow. This poem is from her manuscript The Trades. "Roaring Branch" is the name of a Woolrich blanket pattern and also a town in Pennsylvania.
