Steevie, as she is known, has worked in six states and briefly in Senegal, teaching, heading schools, organizing UN events. Each place has influenced her, its people, terrain, history, and attitudes. She is widely read; however, her greatest pleasure is scribbling in notebooks, trying to lasso what has moved her, whether in the foreground or background of her travels and her home in the Western Catskills.

Her poetry has appeared in Denver Quarterly, Southern Poetry Review, Stone Canoe and others. Her chapbook, SLUICE, was published in 2013.
