In this poem, I wanted to highlight that the beauty and magic of life is found in the ordinary experiences of our daily life. There is a great saying in the Zen Buddhist tradition that "suffering is wanting something else." I wanted to show that joy, happiness or what matters is always right here if we know how to look.
Ray Cicetti's poems have been published in a variety of journals. His first book of poems, A Forest in His Pocket was published in 2021. Ray is a psychotherapist and senior teacher in the Zen tradition. He is married and lives with his wife in northern New Jersey.
