I wrote “Dunkin' Donuts,” I think, because the woman I refer to was such a persistent presence one summer, rather than someone I might have encountered once and then forgotten in the course of a day. No, she was someone I couldn't avoid and my reluctance to navigate her stretch of street led to further reflections. Eventually, I tried to write them down.
