“Where I live on the Eastern Shore of Virginia, each town used to have its own little county fair or carnival. That's where the Ferris Wheel comes into play in “Lawnmower,” a meditation on climate change and powerlessness. My poem, “Lark Sparrows in a Pasture Outside of Town” examines cognition, both my own circular habits and imagined/projected patterns in nature.”
