“Where I live on the Eastern Shore of Virginia, each town used to have its own little county fair or carnival. That's where the Ferris Wheel comes into play in “Lawnmower,” a meditation on climate change and powerlessness. My poem, “Lark Sparrows in a Pasture Outside of Town” examines cognition, both my own circular habits and imagined/projected patterns in nature.”

Stephen Scott Whitaker is an educator and the managing editor for The Broadkill Review. Mulch, his novel of weird fiction, is forthcoming from Montag Press in 2021.
