I was doing fieldwork in Ely, Minnesota when I wrote this poem. ” My mornings were brightened by butter-and-eggs (Linaria vulgaris - sadly invasive) flowers being pollinated in our research site. I was moved by how completely the bees enter the flowers. This piece explores a difficult relationship with food, longing for and fearing such an unabashed, embodied breakfast. It celebrates pollination, hunger, and satiety.
