Todd Copeland’s poems and essays have appeared in The Journal, High Plains Literary Review, Southern Poetry Review, Valparaiso Poetry Review, and Literary Imagination, among other publications. Concerning “Last Light at Echo Crater,” he said, “I wrote this poem following a trip through the Mountain West with a longtime friend, to whom the poem is dedicated. We were both in our late twenties at the time, and I had just become a father. Our worlds were rapidly changing; suddenly, we were no longer young. It occurred to me that our travels that summer were less a matter of discovering who we were than of realizing what we had ceased to be.”
